Visakhapatnam: Union minister for petroleum and tourism and Malayalam actor
Suresh Gopi attended the "Maha Sankranti celebrations", being organised by the former Rajya Sabha MP GVL Narasimha Rao, at the Andhra University engineering college grounds on Saturday. Suresh Gopi recalled his connection with different south Indian states and their cultures. Explaining the uniqueness of Sankranti festival, he expressed his happiness about the "Sankranti celebrations" and the way these celebrations reflect the culture of Sankranti and congratulated Narasimha Rao on this occasion.
The minister enthralled a large audience by singing popular Telugu film songs and promised to return to
Vizag for a longer duration. He responded positively to the suggestion of Narsimha Rao to help sanction projects for a further boost to tourism in Visakhapatnam and north coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh.
Earlier on Friday, former vice president M Venkaiah Naidu attended the celebrations as the chief guest. Naidu said that every family should celebrate Sankranti festivities in a grand manner, revere nature, respect farmers, uphold family values, and love their mother tongue. "Elders should instill Telugu cultural traditions in the younger generation. Everyone should increase the use of indigenous products under the slogan "Swadeshi in every home," so that everyone can contribute to the resolve of a self-reliant India (Atmanirbhar Bharat)," added Venkaiah Naidu.
