Tirupati: Police arrested three people on charges of smuggling ganja near Tirupati in the late hours on Thursday. The accused were identified as M Hemadri, a resident of Jeevakona locality, Nagaraju Madhusudhan and S Radha Krishnan, both natives of Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu.Police seized 600 gms of ganja from the possession of the accused when they were arrested near the Jeevakona locality. Alipiri police registered a case under various provisions of the NDPS Act and produced the accused before the local court in the presence of the Tahsildar. The accused were sent to a 14-day judicial remand by the local court. Tirupati SP L Subbarayudu warned that the district police wing displays zero tolerance to ganja smuggling and usage in the temple city and that repeated offenders will be dealt with seriously if they continue to indulge in ganja smuggling-related activities.
