BAPATLA: Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University has ordered closure of the agriculture college here till October 25 in view of the ongoing protests over the suicide of post-graduate student Madukuri Surya Rao. Angrau registrar Satyanarayana issued a notice in this connection on Friday.
Students have been demanding the immediate transfer of five assistant professors from the college, blaming them for driving Surya Rao to suicide on September 26.

Last week, the college management succumbed to pressure and shifted an assistant professor who has been named by the students.
Despite the vice-chancellor Dr A Padma Raju visiting the college and interacting with the students recently, the students did not end the protest.
The student body expressed displeasure that only one faculty member has been transferred when they have been pressing for five more to be removed without further delay.
Since the students are apparently in no mood to relent, the management is hoping a buffer period would help lessen the intensity of the agitation.
"So we have decided to close down the college including the hostel till October 25," the registrar explained.
