Amalapuram: Hundreds of
BJP workers were either taken into custody or put under house arrest in the wake of the ‘Chalo Amalapuram’ call given by state BJP in protest against the chariot fire incident at Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Antarvedi in East Godavari district on September 5.
Eluru range DIG KV Mohan Rao said that 70 people have been arrested in Amalapuram. State BJP chief Somu Veerraju said that the objective of ‘Chalo Amalapuram’ is to “make the government lift cases on all people arrested in Antarvedi on the 7th of this month”.
