Women’s education, safety foundation for nation’s growth: IG
Trichy: Women not only contribute to their families and society, but also to economic development through their education and management skills, central zone inspector general (IG) of police, V Balakrishnan, has said.Addressing a gathering at Bhel Trichy complex on Tuesday as part of the International Women's Day function, Balakrishnan said that development schemes formulated for women, educational opportunities, and the measures taken to prevent crimes against them will not only improve the country's economy but also benefit humanity.Citing statistics on drug abuse and crimes against women, he said that in the current environment, it is boys who need proper instructions and guidance. Stressing the need for each person to have a personal goal, Balakrishnan said that hard work, perseverance, and some sacrifices are essential to succeed in life. Underlining the need for women to prioritize their health, he said that procrastination and excuses should be avoided in maintaining health. S Prabhakar, executive director, Bhel Trichy complex, said the country will achieve wholesome development only when women are empowered. Prizes to winners of various competitions were distributed during the event.
