2 killed after car ploughs into fair crowd in Ranchi
Ranchi: Two persons, including a woman, were killed and around 12 were injured after a speeding car ploughed through a crowd during a fair under Tatisilway police station limits on the city outskirts on Saturday evening, police said.The car driver fled from the spot after the accident, police said.Police said that the deceased were identified as Bhola Sharma, 65, and Reema Sharma, 22, both residents of Angara area. The injured are being treated in a local hospital.Superintendent of police (rural), Praveen Pushkar, said, “A crowd had gathered at the Dol Mela in Manki Dhipa locality when a speeding car hit them. A police officer present on the spot rushed the injured people to a local hospital, where two of them were declared dead.”Angry locals blocked the road with the bodies, demanding compensation and action against the fugitive car driver. The protest continued till 9 pm.
