Car rally flagged off from Salem
SALEM: A 14-day car rally was flagged off from Salem to Umling La in Ladakh on Saturday to promote safe and responsible road travel. Umling La, situated at an altitude of 19,024 feet, is the world’s highest motorable pass. The car rally, organized by Adventure Addicted, aims to create awareness about the fragile Himalayan ecosystem, women's safety and drug abuse. It is also meant for promoting national unity and greater participation in adventure tourism from south India. Rally organiser B Rajesh said 11 cars forming a convoy would be travelling through several states before reaching Umling La.
