Rajkot: A 29-year-old man's inability to accept the end of relationship with a young woman led him and his accomplices to kidnap her 45-year-old mother and 14-year-old brother late on Thursday.
University police rescued the victims — Aruna Solanki and her 14-year-old son — and arrested four men within hours of being notified. A manhunt for one suspect is still underway.

The alleged kidnapping occurred on Sadhu Vaswani Road, triggering a search through the night. Investigators said the crime was rooted in one of the accused being unable to accept the end of a past relationship with Aruna's daughter.
Police arrested Krunal Mithar (29) and Bharat Kalotra (30) and their alleged accomplices Jaydeep Limbasiya and Alpesh Chavda. Another suspect, Nagaraj, is still at large.
Aruna's husband, Jayesh Solanki, lodged an FIR at University police station for kidnapping and abetment.
He stated that Mithar, a former neighbour, had earlier been in a relationship with his daughter. On Thursday, he noticed Mithar and his friend Kalotra followed him in a white car when he was going to his workplace near KKV Hall. Sensing trouble, Solanki told his wife over the phone about being followed.
Aruna and her son later visited Jayesh at his workplace and left for home. When repeated calls to Aruna around 9.15pm went unanswered, Solanki found out that some unknown persons had taken her and the boy away in a white car. He immediately approached police.
Inspector Hareshkumar Patel said the accused first drove towards Bhavnagar. The vehicle used in the abduction was later found abandoned near Tramba, with no one inside.
"From technical surveillance and human intelligence, we learned that the suspects had changed vehicles and were headed back towards Rajkot," Patel said.
Police intercepted the suspects on Bhavnagar Road, rescued the woman and her son unharmed, and took the four men into custody.
Investigators said Mithar is originally from Gadhada and used to live on Sadhu Vaswani Road. Kalotra is from Bhandariya village in Jasdan taluka. Both are in the dairy business. Chavda (20) is as a labourer in a tile factory, while Limbasiya (24) is a labourer in the the transport sector.
Police said efforts are underway to trace and arrest the absconding accused Nagaraj.
