Rajkot: Nearly four months after prominent Patidar leaders, including BJP MP from Probandar Vithal Radadiya acted as mediators for talks with the government over community's demand for other backward class reservation, the members of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) on Monday dismissed them as representatives of the community.
PAAS leaders have now nominated Surat-based industrialists Mukesh Patel and Mahesh Patel to talk with the state government on behalf of Patidars.
They have alleged that current mediators like Radadiya and Kadva Patel leader Jeram Patel have been delaying talks with the government.
"We had welcomed their negotiation offer and allowed them to act as mediators as they had assured positive outcome. But even after four months nothing seems to be moving. Our leaders including Hardik Patel are still in jail. Both (Radadiya and Jeram Patel) just delayed the process and we are fed up with it," PAAS Saurashtra convener Lalit Vasoya told TOI.
When asked what was their priority in talks with government, Vasoya said that it was to get their leaders released from jail. "So far as reservation is concerned, only Hardik Patel will talk to government and no one else," Vasoya added.
