PUNE: The Khadak police on Tuesday arrested eight suspects for allegedly abducting a 31-year-old builder and trying to extort Rs 10 lakh.
They committed the alleged crime at the behest of Vishal Satpute alias Janglya, the main suspect in the murder of criminal Kunal Pol.
The suspects reportedly told the city-based builder that Vishal had asked them to collect Rs 10 lakh from him for paying lawyers’ fees to secure Vishal’s bail from the Yerawada jail.

Pol, who was charged for murder, was shot dead at a restaurant in Dhole Patil Chowk near Swargate on November 13, 2013.
The Khadak police had then arrested Vishal Satpute and his accomplices. Three of his accomplices Mangesh Satpute, Shankar Koli and Ganesh Pawar were released on bail.
Recently Mangesh Satpute, Koli and Pawar accosted the builder and demanded Rs 10 lakh. “The trio also threatened the builder with dire consequences,” said sub-inspector Sanjay Gaikwad.
On Monday Koli, Pawar and their accomplices forcefully took him near Golibar Maidan. “There Mangesh Satpute demanded Rs 10 lakh from him at gunpoint,” Gaikwad said.
The builder on Tuesday lodged a complaint. The police swung into action and arrested Mangesh Satpute along with Pawar, Koli, Tushar Satpute, Shukrakumar Ranpise, Subhash Gaddam, Sadiq Ansari and Sidharth Lokhande, Gaikwad said.
He said that all the suspects are criminals on police records. They have cases like murder, dacoity attempt and body offences registered against them. The suspects have been remanded to police custody till December 6.
