KISHANGANJ: Union textile minister Shahnawaz Hussain laid the foundation stone of the 50-tonnes capacity jute mill at Simalbari on the periphery of Kishanganj on Thursday. It is likely to create permanent job opportunities for at least 5,000 unemployed youths.
Union minister for small industries and in-charge, north-east, C P Thakur, who graced the occasion, eulogised private investor Ghanshyam Sarada of Sarada Group of Industries for daring to set up a new business venture in Bihar which had lately become synonymous with lawlessness, abduction and all sorts of crime.

Thakur, speaking on the occasion, recalled how President A P J Abdul Kalam, at a special tea party hosted exclusively for the Bihar MPs, had mirrored the present vision of Bihar which had sunk to the lowest ebb on the parameters of development activities. He said: "While juxtaposing Bihar''s pristine glory of the past with today''s besmirched image, the President rather pulled our heart strings and expected us to overturn the same."
Hussain, though running temperature, made a blistering attack on his political detractors for viewing his schemes for the development starved Kishanganj with tainted glass. He said: "I do not want to play politics so far as development is concerned." Muzaffar Khan, vice-President of West Bengal BJP, lavished unstinted praise on Shahnawaz Hussain for ushering in new era of property in this much neglected belt.Former MLA Awadh Bihari Singh presided over the function. Ghanshyam Sarada also spoke on the occasion.
