Patna: The Bihar Regiment Centre (BRC) at Danapur Cantonment celebrated the Raising Day of its 10th and 11th Battalions with enthusiasm, military fervour and patriotic zeal on Monday.
According to a senior BRC official, the 10th Battalion—raised on June 1, 1966 under the command of Lt Col L W Beglin—observed its 60th Raising Day, while the 11th Battalion—raised on June 1, 1971 under Lt Col R K Kala—marked its 55th Raising Day with dignity.
The celebrations began with a solemn tribute to soldiers who laid down their lives in service of the nation. Major General Jai Singh Bainsla and Brigadier Rakesh Kumar Bora, Commandant of BRC, paid homage at the war memorial, recalling the battalions’ valour and sacrifices.
Addressing officers, soldiers and veterans, both Maj Gen Bainsla and Brig Bora lauded the distinguished service of the two battalions in safeguarding the nation’s integrity. They highlighted their role in counter-insurgency operations in Nagaland, Mizoram, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir and Assam, during both peace and wartime. Soldiers of the battalions, they said, have displayed exemplary courage and professionalism, earning numerous accolades.
They also recalled the sacrifices made over the decades, noting that the soldiers’ dedication and patriotism continue to inspire future generations.
The event was attended by officers, junior commissioned officers, jawans, veterans and their families. Military traditions and ceremonial activities marked the occasion, reflecting the rich legacy of the Bihar Regiment. The celebrations concluded with a renewed pledge by all ranks to uphold the regiment’s traditions and serve the nation with honour and devotion.
