Noida: A 30-year old woman was on Wednesday attacked with acid by a man in Ballukheda village in Dankaur, Greater Noida. She received burns on her face, head and back. Doctor said that the victim is out of danger.
According to the police, the victim and accused were known to each other and they were living together.
The victim, Rekha, is presently undergoing treatment in district hospital Noida Sector 30.
The accused has been identified as Vinod Gurjar (32), a resident of Mahmood Nagar village in Greater Noda.
Ravinder Rathi, SHO Dankaur, said that the woman is a widow with three children – Arun (10), Aman (7) and Sonam (12). Her husband, a driver, had died five years ago. Rathi said that the woman and man had been living together for the last three years. “Lately they developed some differences over personal issues. Vinod on Wednesday threw acid at the woman and fled from the spot,” he said.
Rekha’s 11-year old son Arun was also at the spot when the incident took place. Arun said that he along with his mother was coming from Jhajhar, their maternal home, to Dankaur. “Vinod approached us on a bike. He had argument with my mother. He suddenly took out the acid bottle from his pocket and threw at my mother,” he said.
The woman resisted the bid and threw sandals at the accused in defense. The accused fled from the spot on the motorcycle after committing the crime.
The police registered a case against the accused and arrested him from Mohammadpur village in evening.
