Restaurant manager killed, coworker injured in speeding bike crash on Nashik’s Gangapur Road
Nashik: A 32-year-old restaurant manager, a native of Dhule district, was killed, and a 25-year-old restaurant worker was seriously injured when the motorcycle they were riding crashed into a road divider on Gangapur Road, opposite the CP office, at 2.30am on Tuesday.The deceased has been identified as Samadhan Devre, a resident of Dhule. The injured, Sujit Das (25), is under treatment, the Sarkarwada police said.The police said Devre and Das were riding from the Jehan Circle side to the Ashok Stambh side when Devre apparently lost control of the vehicle near the city police commissionerate and hit the road divider. Both riders were tossed off the bike and fell on the road.The sound woke people in an adjoining slum area, who called an ambulance and rushed the two to Nashik Civil hospital. Devre was declared brought dead.The Sarkarwada police registered a case of accidental death and said it was unclear where the two were going so late at night. The police said the accident was caught on a CCTV camera, which showed they were riding the bike extremely fast at the time of the accident, owing to which the rider lost control of the vehicle.Both of them resided at the restaurant. Devre's body was handed over to his family, who arrived on Tuesday evening.The police said rash driving was the main cause of accidents in the city. Last year, 197 people died in road accidents in the city, and the majority of them were bikers.
