NMC sets March 15 deadline for utility works on 28 roads
Nashik: The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has set March 15 as the deadline for various departments and government agencies to complete works related to utility services on 28 city roads that are being developed in view of the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela. Earlier, the deadline was Feb 28. As per the new deadline, all the agencies will have to complete the works following which the civic body will start the road development works.Currently, the utility ducts are being constructed for various services like water supply, drainage lines, Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) lines, piped natural gas and storm water lines in a bid to avoid digging of roads in the future. The NMC has also asked the MNGL to complete its proposed works of laying the gas pipeline on these 28 roads before the deadline.The Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority has approved 28 roads worth Rs1,250 crore to the municipal corporation in the city in view of the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela slated to be held in 2027. Municipal commissioner Manisha Khatri, while speaking to the reporters, said the deadline of March 15 has been given to civic departments and govt agencies concerned to complete the works related to the utility services. "We are making provision of utility ducts for six services so that there is no need for digging the roads in the future. This may avoid damage to the roads and will increase its life," Khatri said."Once the utility works are completed, the leveling of these roads will be completed and then the actual road works will be started," she added. According to a civic official, of the 28 roads, 14 are to be made of white topping and the remaining will be asphalted.
