NAGPUR: Nagpur University’s website – nagpuruniversity.org – often touted as “outdated” has undergone a much-needed makeover from Monday under the new administration led by tech-savvy vice-chancellor (VC) Siddharthvinayaka Kane. However, the students complained that the website was not much useful for them, except for results and examination sections.
Earlier, the students used to apply for their identity cards and get enrolment numbers online on NU’s web portal. But ever since NU snapped ties with Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL), the web portal was not working.
Now, NU authorities have changed only the home page, perhaps for the first time since its launch in 2006, but failed to change looks of other sections like courses, alumni and history. The VC’s photo is posted but his bio-data was not uploaded even after two months of his appointment. The bio-data of previous VC’s like Vilas Sapkal and SN Pathan was available on the NU website during their tenures.
Even registrar Puran Meshram’s information is missing from the website. Moreover, the photograph of historic building at NU administrative block was copied from website of a newsportal whose name was imprinted on it. The digital university link is also missing and shows message of “sorry for the inconvenience”. In alumni portion, names of just six prominent persons are uploaded while it was not opened for NU graduates to make their registrations online, students claimed.
