Mysuru: A man who allegedly convinced a girl that he would marry her despite her skin condition, and developed a physical relationship with her, and later abandoned her, has been booked under charges of rape. Police sources claimed that the accused, Madan Raj, who was an elected member of T Narasipura Council, was booked under rape charges recently, and launched a search to find him, as he absconded.
Mysuru SP Mallikarjun Baldandi confirmed that a case of rape was taken up against Madan Raj, and an investigation was launched. The accused absconded after the girl allegedly attempted suicide two days ago. Sources claimed that Madan Raj got engaged to a govt employee, and when confronted by the complainant, he convinced her that their families opposed their marriage, and suggested they pretend to consume poison to gain their approval.
