Hassan: A 36-year-old contract railway worker, Sachin, was injured after a goods train struck a track trolley on the Edakumeri–Shirabagilu railway section in Sakleshpur taluk on Saturday evening.
According to reports, Sachin and his team had completed maintenance work and were returning to their camp on a trolley (dolly) when the incident occurred inside a tunnel. On noticing an approaching goods train, the workers quickly moved the trolley off the track to avoid danger. However, as the train passed through the tunnel, it hit the trolley, causing it to rebound and strike Sachin, leaving him injured.
Co-workers immediately rushed him to Sakleshpur Taluk Hospital, where he was given first aid before being shifted to Hassan District Hospital for advanced treatment. Doctors said his condition was stable and he was out of danger.
Railway authorities have taken note of the incident, and the divisional railway manager (DRM) has ordered an inquiry. A committee has been constituted to investigate the circumstances leading to the mishap and recommend measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
