Navi Mumbai: A total of 2,551 suggestions and objections were submitted between Aug 22 and Sept 4 in connection to the draft notified ward limits for upcoming Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) election.
The objections were about the disturbance created for the addition of 14 villages replacing existing geographic and voter limits. There were 111 corporators elected from equal number of wards. In the latest 28 ward panel system, 27 wards will elect four corporators each, and one ward is to have three elected representatives. Each candidate has to cover voters of three more wards instead of one, increasing campaign load on candidates.
BJP spokesman, Vikram Shinde said, "The candidates will face the pressure of adjusting to new voters under the panel system. All political parties have to adjust to the new ward limits". Sena (UBT) leader, MK Madhvi was dissatisfied over the ward limit change tions.
