Woman arrested for killing husband, lover on run

Bijnor: A woman has been arrested for allegedly killing her husband with the help of her lover and attempting to stage the crime as a suicide by hanging the body from a ceiling fan in their house. Police said her lover remains at large.Police said the incident took place in Daranagar village under Gajraula police station on Wednesday night after Ompal Singh, 30, caught Kallo Devi, 28, and Bablu alias Dinesh Kumar, 27, in a compromising position.Family members said that Kallo was in a long-standing relationship with Bablu, which Ompal strongly opposed. Villagers said that during a confrontation, Ompal forced his wife to beat Bablu with slippers, after which Bablu left the village but allegedly threatened Ompal with dire consequences.Dhanaura circle officer Anjali Kataria said the accused strangled Ompal with a plastic rope and later hung his body from a fan to make it appear as suicide.The postmortem confirmed death due to strangulation, and police recovered the rope used in the crime.Based on a complaint filed by Ompal's younger brother, Jogesh Kumar, a case was registered against both accused under section 103(1) (murder) of BNS. Kallo Devi confessed to the crime and has been sent to jail under judicial custody, while Bablu remains at large.Family members said Ompal, a farmer and daily wage labourer, married Kallo about 13 years ago. The couple have three children together.
