Meerut: A 45-year-old casting factory owner allegedly died by suicide following a family dispute in Meerut on Monday, police said. Mohd Shahbuddin left home after an argument with his family members and jumped in front of a train on a railway track.
Brahmapuri SHO Rajesh Kamboj said police recovered the body, established the identity and informed the family. "Prima facie, it is a case of suicide. No formal complaint has been filed so far," he said. The body was sent for post-mortem.
Police said Shahbuddin had taken a bank loan of around Rs 25 lakh a few years ago to expand his business. As instalments were not paid on time, penalties were imposed. On Monday morning, his wife learned about the loan, which led to a heated argument at home.
He is survived by his wife and four children.
