Meerut: The charred body of a man was found inside a car parked on a link road near Kali River police post in Saharanpur on Wednesday morning. Police suspect the victim was killed before the vehicle was set ablaze.
Local farmers spotted the burnt car near a field and alerted police who found a human skeleton in the driver's seat. Senior officials and forensic teams collected evidence, including slippers found on the road and in the field, suggesting a struggle.
SSP Abhinandan Singh said, "No identification clues emerged as the body was completely burnt. Vehicle details have been traced, remains sent for postmortem, and CCTV footage is under review." CO Sadar Munish Chandra noted the incident likely happened in the early hours as a police patrol passed the spot around 2am without noticing the car.
