6 killed, several injured as bus carrying wedding guests collides with truck in Uttar Pradesh
HAPUR: At least six people were killed and several others injured after a bus collided with a truck on the Dhaulana-Gulawati road in Hapur district, police said on Monday.According to police, the bus was carrying passengers who were returning from a wedding procession when the accident took place. The impact of the collision left multiple passengers critically injured.Superintendent of police Gyananjay Singh said police teams immediately reached the spot after receiving information and began rescue and relief operations.
“A bus carrying passengers, who were returning from a wedding procession, collided with a truck on the Dhaulana-Gulawati road. Police teams immediately reached the spot and started relief work. Victims were sent to the hospital, out of which six died on the spot and seven injured are undergoing treatment,” SP Singh said.He further said that the truck involved in the accident has been removed from the site and traffic movement has been restored.Officials said all injured persons were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Family members of the victims have also reached the spot, and legal proceedings have been initiated.Police added that there were a total of 12 people on the bus, and one person remains unidentified, who is suspected to be the driver.Further investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.(With agency inputs)
