Cooperative society staffer alleges caste abuse, case filed in Mangaluru
Mangaluru: An employee of a cooperative society has alleged caste-based abuse by the branch manager in-charge. The 47-year-old woman stated in a complaint that on April 2, while she was on duty, the branch in-charge manager, Yathish D Gowda, allegedly came to the office and suddenly instructed her not to perform her duties. When she objected, the accused reportedly pushed her and subjected her to caste-based abuse.Subsequently, on April 7, when the complainant returned to work in the morning, she was again obstructed from discharging her duties. Distressed by the incident, she reportedly fell ill and collapsed in the office, following which staff members shifted her to a hospital. Based on the complaint filed on Saturday against office-bearers Yashodha, Pushparaj Chowta and Yathish D. Gowda, a case has been registered at Vittal Police Station. The case has been booked under Sections 74 and 49 of the BNS, along with Sections 3(1)(r)(s) and 3(2)(va) of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Act, 2015. Investigation is under way.
