Madurai NGOs celebrate Women’s Day
Madurai: Ahead of Women's Day, Yellow Bags Foundation, a NGO, organised an event celebrating achievements by women towards financial independence and security and recognised their efforts in becoming entrepreneurs.During the event, inspiring real-life stories of women who faced challenges with strength and determination were shared. The event also celebrated the journey of 18 micro-entrepreneur women who started their own businesses and took their first steps towards financial independence. These women work together to sell different products such as blouses, food, and various other handmade products, sourcing premium, good-quality material.In addition, 200 women who learned a new skill this year were honoured for their commitment to learning and self-development. Cultural performances by children from the Minminigal Learning Centre were also performed.In a separate event, Terapanth Mahila Mandal, under the banner of the Akhil Bhartiya Terapanth Mahila Mandal, celebrated Women's Day. Representatives of more than 30 NGOs and several community groups participated in the gathering.
An interactive panel discussion that motivated women to move beyond social stereotypes, recognise their inner capabilities, and focus on skill development, was conductedOrganisations including Saisha India, Speak2us, Waste is Wealth, Rotary Club of Madurai Blossom, Cewas, Alavizhi, and Able Kids took part in the event. Vice-president Rekha Dugar honoured the NGOs and community groups for their service to society.
