HC grants bail to man arrested for illegal sand transportation

Madurai: The Madras high court granted bail to a man arrested for transporting illegally quarried sand in Trichy district, with a directive to donate ₹40,000 to a government school.
The bail petition was filed by Rajkumar, who was arrested by Musuri police on August 27 for allegedly transporting nearly two units of illegally quarried river sand.
Justice D Bharatha Chakravarthy granted bail, considering Rajkumar's willingness to donate ₹40,000 to show his bona fides.The judge directed him to deposit the amount with the headmaster of the Government Higher Secondary School in Maharajapuram, Watrap, Virudhunagar district. The petitioner must also report to the police daily for two weeks and subsequently as required for further investigation.
