‘EPS as CM will invite Modi to lay stone for metro rail’

Madurai: After AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami becomes chief minister, he would invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to lay foundation stone for Madurai Metro Rail Project, said deputy leader of the opposition R B Udhayakumar in Madurai on Thursday.Campaigning in Thirumangalam constituency, Udhayakumar said DMK govt failed to send a proper project report on metro rail to the Union govt. "EPS will once again become CM of Tamil Nadu and, as per AIADMK election manifesto, Madurai Metro Rail Project will be implemented. He will invite PM Modi to lay the foundation stone for the project in Thirumangalam," he said.He said DMK govt was involved in a false campaign regarding Madurai AIIMS by showing a brick. "Today, Madurai AIIMS hospital buildings stand tall, and works are nearing completion," he said. Udhayakumar said Vijaya Prabhakaran contested as DMDK candidate from Virudhunagar in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, and AIADMK cadres worked hard for him in Thirumangalam (which comes under the LS constituency). "However, DMK worked against him and prevented him from going to Parliament. At present, DMDK general secretary Premallatha Vijayakanth is campaigning for DMK, which defeated Vijaya Prabhakaran. True loyalists of late DMDK leader Vijayakanth will not accept it," he said.
