Pulse polio drive in city to cover 4.8L children

Ludhiana: A national pulse polio vaccination campaign will be carried out in the district from March 3 to 7, during which 4.78 lakh children aged below 5 years will be administered pulse polio drops.Civil surgeon Dr Jasbir Singh Aulakh said that concerted efforts were made to ensure that children below five years of age are covered under the pulse polio campaign. He stated that a total of 1,070 booths are set up in the district, and a total of 1535 door-to-door, 80 transit, and 98 mobile teams have been formed to achieve the target. These teams will operate under the supervision of 506 supervisors and will cover approximately 11.67 lakh houses. Dr Aulakh said that the department has coordinated with the education department and other relevant departments to devise a strategy for carrying out this campaign. The education department officials have been urged to hold meetings regarding the pulse polio campaign and to educate parents about the importance of vaccination. tnn
