1 killed as car crashes into motorcycle

Ludhiana: A man was killed and another was injured after a speeding car rammed into their motorcycle. The deceased was identified as Harshit Thakur (22) of Dugri.
Cops said that Harshit, who worked as a chef, along with his friend Nikhil, was returning home on a motorcycle at around 3am on Sunday, when their bike was allegedly hit by a speeding car near Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University.Nikhil, who was sitting pillion and sustained an injury to his head, said while he fell on the side, Harshit fell at a distance.
The onlookers rushed to the spot, however, by the time they could catch the accused driver, he fled. They called an ambulance to take the duo to a hospital and informed the police.
On being informed, cops from Raghunath police post of Sarabha Nagar police station reached the spot and initiated a probe.

Police later booked the accused under sections 304-A (causing death due to negligence), 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) of IPC. tnn
