Pocso case convict hurls shoe at judge
Although they haven't gained as much popularity as smartwatches and fitness bands, smart shoes will not be an uncommon phenomenon in the future. We have already read about shoes that can charge one's smartphone while the person runs, there are shoes that vibrate to tell you that you need to turn and also about the ones that count footsteps as well as calories burned. However, we would still have to wait before these shoes hit the shelves and we finally get to buy a pair for ourselves.
KOZHIKODE: A convict hurled a shoe at the judge of POCSO court at Kalpetta in Wayanad district on Friday after the judge sentenced him to a total of 25 years in prison for raping a minor girl.Kalpetta police arrested Arumughan, 56, of Kunnummal House, Muppainad near Meppadi for attacking additional district judge S H Panchapakesan.According to a court official, Arumughan who was standing in the accused box threw a shoe as soon as the judge pronounced the verdict in the POCSO case registered against him in 2014. The shoe hit the judge who was in his chair. The accused was instantly overpowered by police and court officials present on the spot and taken out of the court building. The judge sought treatment at a hospital in Kalpetta. Kalpetta police have registered a separate case against the accused. Arumughan was sentenced to 25 years in prison along with a fine of Rs Two Lakh in connection with the case registered against him for raping a 11 year old girl.
