Kannur: Police on Saturday filed a petition before the Kannur judicial first-class magistrate's court opposing the plea moved by former Kannur ADM Naveen Babu's wife Manjusha seeking further investigation into his death.
In the petition submitted by Kannur Town inspector Sreejith Koderi, who investigated the case, it was stated that all the aspects of the case had been examined thoroughly and a detailed investigation was completed. The lone accused, former Kannur district panchayat president P P Divya was found guilty, the petition stated.
The police further claimed that ADM's wife Manjusha's plea has neither legal nor factual ground. Both the high court and the Supreme Court had earlier rejected a petition from the ADM's family seeking a CBI probe into the case. The courts dismissed the petitions stating the police probe was conducted properly. Hence, it should be rejected, demanded the police.
Meanwhile, Divya's advocate K Vishwan also backed the police petition. The court adjourned the case to Aug 23.
Naveen Babu was found hanging at his official residence on Oct 15, 2024. A special investigation team probed the case and submitted the chargesheet in March this year, naming Divya as the sole accused.
