Kolhapur: Several parts of old Kolhapur city, from Shivaji Peth and Mangalwar Peth, faced water cuts from Tuesday as the local civic body undertook works of cross-connection at Panyacha Khajina area.
The works are likely to continue until Thursday morning. As a result, the city areas will continue to reel under water scarcity until Thursday evening. However, tankers were deployed for distributing water.
Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) water supply engineer Harshjit Ghatge said, "After digging near the old tank, it was found that there were some other small and large water pipelines on that route. Due to this, the work of providing connections was delayed. The work of providing connections is ongoing by removing the water pipelines coming across."
"We are trying to complete the work immediately and start the water supply as early as we can. Citizens are appealed to use water sparingly," added Ghatge.
