India vs Afghanistan highlights, U19 World Cup 2026 Semifinal: India crush Afghanistan by 7 wickets, set up final clash with England

India vs Afghanistan Live Score, U19 World Cup 2026 Semifinal: India reached the ICC Under-19 World Cup final after beating Afghanistan by seven wickets on Wednesday in Harare, riding on a century from Aaron George and half-centuries from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre. India will face England in the final on Friday. This will be India’s 10th appearance in an Under-19 World Cup final.

Chasing 311, India completed the target in 41.1 overs, recording their highest successful chase in the history of the tournament. Aaron George anchored the innings with 115 off 104 balls, while Sooryavanshi scored 68 off 33 balls and Mhatre made 62 off 59 deliveries. India maintained a run rate of over seven runs per over for most of the chase.

Afghanistan had earlier posted 310 for four after being asked to bat. The total was built around centuries from Faisal Shinozada and Uzairullah Niazal. Faisal scored 110 off 93 balls, while Niazal remained unbeaten on 101 off 86 balls as the Indian bowlers found it difficult to take wickets regularly.

Faisal Shinozada and Uzairullah Niazai struck contrasting centuries to power Afghanistan Under-19 to an imposing 310 for 4 against India in their ICC U-19 World Cup semifinal on Wednesday.

After being asked to bat first, Afghanistan made a cautious start, managing just 42 runs in the first 10 overs. Openers Osman Sadat and Khalid Ahmadzai laid the foundation, adding 53 for the first wicket before Ahmadzai was caught by Abhigyan Kundu off Deepesh Devendran for 31.

Sadat continued to grind it out but fell for 39 off 70 balls, caught by Deepesh Devendran off Kanishk Chouhan, leaving Afghanistan at 117 for 2 in the 25th over.

That brought together Shinozada and Niazai, and the duo stitched together the defining partnership of the innings — a commanding 148-run stand that swung momentum decisively in Afghanistan’s favour. Shinozada, coming off a century in his previous outing, once again displayed composure and consistency, compiling 110 off 93 balls with 15 fours. His knock provided stability through the middle overs before he was bowled by Devendran in the 46th over, completing back-to-back hundreds.

While Shinozada held one end, Niazai unleashed at the other. The right-hander remained unbeaten on 101 off 86 deliveries, striking 12 fours and two sixes, accelerating sharply in the final phase despite receiving treatment on his left arm during the innings.

Azizullah Miakhil chipped in with a brisk 12 before being dismissed by Chouhan, while Abdul Aziz finished strongly with an unbeaten seven off three balls as Afghanistan crossed the 300-run mark.

For India, Devendran (2/64) and Chouhan (2/55) were the only wicket-takers. Khilan Patel was the most economical, conceding just 49 runs in his 10 overs, while Henil Patel and RS Ambrish went wicketless despite sustained spells.

It's been a great stage (playing in the WC), the boys have worked hard to reach here, but they haven't been regular at this stage.

For us, it's all about the process, what works for them (on the coaching philosophy), as they go higher-up, people will start talking about different things, it's just about the process.

We're all approachable and open (on the team management), making it easy for the boys to come and talk with us.

Really happy with the toss.

Wicket looks good as well. The boys are doing really well and the attitude they are showing on the field is really brilliant. We just need to play simple cricket and play to the potential today. We are playing the same team for us.

India U19 vs Afghanistan U19 Live Score: 'We will bat first' - Mahboob
We will bat first.

Pitch looks good for batting, so we want to bat. Faisal Khan is a very good batter. He has performed very well for the team. We prepared well for this game and hopefully we will make it to the final as well. The wicket is good for batting and it will offer some help for the bowlers as well.

India U19 vs Afghanistan U19 Live Score: Pitch report
This ground has big boundaries, but the ball is going to fly because of the high altitude. It looks hard, few cracks visible but I don't it is going to any sort of part in the game. There is a bit of grass and it feels like it is going to come onto the bat nicely.

Explosive opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi has also been among the runs, scoring 196 from five games with two fifties, though the team management will hope he converts those starts into a century.

All-rounder Vihaan Malhotra has chipped in with 172 runs, highlighted by a superb unbeaten 109 against Zimbabwe in the group stage.

Captain Ayush Mhatre has led effectively with the ball, claiming six wickets with his off-spin, but will be keen to improve his returns with the bat after managing 99 runs so far, with 53 being his highest score.

India vs Afghanistan, U19 World Cup 2026 Semifinal Highlights: Afghanistan U19 produced a commanding batting display to post an imposing 310 for 4 against India, riding on magnificent centuries from Faisal Shinozada and Uzairullah Niazai. The total presents a stiff challenge for India, who were disciplined for long phases but went wicketless when it mattered most.

After being asked to bat, Afghanistan began cautiously against a tidy Indian new-ball attack. Osman Sadat and Khalid Ahmadzai focused on building a base rather than taking risks, guiding the innings through a modest powerplay of 42 runs. Ahmadzai looked fluent during his 31 off 39 balls before edging Deepesh Devendran to the wicketkeeper, ending a 53-run opening stand. Sadat, anchoring the innings, continued to rotate the strike but struggled to lift the tempo, eventually falling for a patient 39 off 70 balls to Kanishk Chouhan.

With Afghanistan at 117 for 2 in the 25th over, Faisal Shinozada and Uzairullah Niazai took control of the innings in contrasting yet equally effective fashion. Faisal played the role of the accumulator to perfection, piercing gaps with precision and punishing loose deliveries. Niazai, at the other end, provided the muscle, getting on top of the bounce and clearing the ropes when the opportunity arose.

Their 148-run partnership for the third wicket turned the game decisively in Afghanistan’s favour. Faisal brought up his second consecutive century with a composed knock of 110 off 93 balls, laced with 15 boundaries. Just as impressive was Niazai’s unbeaten 101 from 86 deliveries, an innings built on clean striking and controlled aggression, featuring 12 fours and two sixes.

India finally broke through late when Deepesh Devendran dismissed Faisal in the 46th over, but by then the damage had been done. Brief cameos from Azizullah Miakhil and Abdul Aziz ensured Afghanistan finished strongly, adding 45 runs in the final five overs to surge past the 300 mark.

For India, Devendran (2/64) and Kanishk Chouhan (2/55) were the only wicket-takers, while Khilan Patel impressed with his economy. However, the inability to strike during the middle overs allowed Afghanistan to dictate terms.

With 310 on the board, Afghanistan have given themselves a strong chance, setting up a stern test for the Indian batting line-up in this high-stakes contest.
