Kolhapur: Leader of opposition for
Congress in the legislative council, MLC
Satej Patil, on Tuesday, while addressing reporters, said
BJP politicians in the state were trying to "fade real history" by making controversial statements against historical icons and legendary heroes. He said BJP functionaries were presenting history in a different way in front of people and were trying to create confusion.
He referred to an earlier controversy and said that last time, the BJP politicians had made a controversial statement regarding the birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
"What we learnt and read about history was through books. Now, history is on digital media. This is the plan of BJP — to create a digital footprint for wrong history, so that after 50 years, it is believed as real history. This is a 100-year plan. The statements made about Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Savitribai Phule, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj are controversial. This manipulated history is what future generations will learn through digital media after 50 years."
Speaking on the blame game between chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar in Pune while campaigning for municipal corporation elections, Patil said, "They blame each other for getting votes, but sit next to each other at the time of cabinet meetings. Ajit Pawar is saying that Pimpri Chinchwad lacks development due to BJP. If BJP is saying Pune should be developed in a particular way, and Ajit Pawar is responsible for it, then both Fadnavis and Pawar should stand in front of the mirror and introspect."
