Kolhapur: The land acquisition survey for the Ankali-Chokak stretch of the Nagpur-Ratnagiri Highway was completed in six days after state govt approved payment of four times the compensation for land.
A report containing detailed information about the total area, affected farmers, and account holders will be submitted within a week to the competent authority, the Highway Authority and the Land Acquisition Department.
"Accordingly, orders will be issued, and compensation will be paid," said Jaydeep Shitole, the deputy superintendent of the Land Records Department.
Earlier, due to the late issuance of the notification for the road from Ankali to Chokak, it was decided to pay only two times the compensation to the affected people. However, farmers strongly opposed it. After a two-year struggle, state govt decided a week ago to compensate the farmers four times the amount.
Immediately after the decision, district collector Amol Yedge ordered the land survey of the affected areas to be completed within six days. Seven teams were formed in Hatkanangale and seven in Shirol for the survey. The survey was completed, and the exact figures of the affected area will be known soon.
