PALAKKAD: A cobra’s unexpected visit to a college library created a brief moment of panic at Victoria College in Palakkad on Thursday.
The snake was discovered by students who had entered the library to collect books. To their surprise, they found the reptile curled up among books on a wooden shelf, apparently seeking a safe and quiet hiding place.
The sight of the snake alarmed students, who immediately alerted college authorities. The administration contacted snake rescuer and volunteer Anoop, who arrived at the scene and safely removed the reptile.
Using professional handling techniques, Anoop carefully extracted the snake from between the books, guided it into a plastic pipe and later secured it in a sack for relocation.
The snake, measuring around four feet in length, was identified as a cobra. No injuries were reported in the incident.
A video capturing the dramatic rescue operation was recorded by students and staff and later went viral on social media, drawing widespread attention and reactions from netizens.
The unusual encounter turned an ordinary day at the library into a memorable one, leaving students with a story far more exciting than anything they expected to find between the pages of a book.
