"Jaipur Metro Railway Corporation (JMRC) was established on Jan 1, 2010, with the plan to operate this alignment first. Unfortunately, the Congress govt decided to construct the Mansarovar to Chandpole alignment first and then to extend that alignment till Badi Chaupar. The govt gave preference to the second alignment because it was easier to construct," a senior official said.
After the stretch between Mansarovar to Chandpole was inaugurated on June 3, 2015, it was extended till Badi Chaupar on Sept 23, 2020.
The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Tonk Road alignmnet was revised three times. In May last year, CM Bhajan Lal Sharma approved the final DPR.
