Jaipur: The Union ministry of road transport and highways has approved the four-laning of Nagaur-Bikaner section of National Highway 62 (NH-62), a project estimated to cost Rs 1,359.33 crore.The project, approved on the Build-Operate-Transfer toll model, is expected to strengthen road connectivity in western Rajasthan and boost investment, employment, industrial growth and tourism in the region.Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said the project reflects the state govt’s focus on expanding infrastructure and improving transport networks.According to the govt, the four-lane highway will improve connectivity between Nagaur and Bikaner and facilitate smoother movement of people and goods. Officials believe the upgraded corridor will help attract new investments, generate employment opportunities and provide impetus to economic activities in the surrounding areas.Sharma said the project will inject fresh momentum into the economies of Nagaur and Bikaner and serve as an important step towards the state’s vision of a developed Rajasthan. The govt also expects the improved highway infrastructure to support industrial expansion and strengthen tourism-related activities in western Rajasthan.
