Indore: A fire broke out in a row of shops at Patel Market on Tejaji Nagar main road on Saturday, spreading rapidly and engulfing a medical store and a clinic.Thick black smoke was visible from a distance as flames shot out of the structures, forcing people to keep away.According to fire control room, the alert was received around 11.21 am, following which fire tenders were rushed to the spot. It took nearly an hour of firefighting to bring the blaze under control, with around 30,000 litres of water used to douse the flames. Three fire vehicles and four water tankers were deployed during the operation, and traffic on both sides of the road was briefly halted.Police said the fire is suspected to have started from a closed restaurant in the market and quickly spread to adjacent establishments, including a medical store and a clinic. Tejaji Nagar police station in-charge Devendra Markam said that no casualties were reported, though the affected shop owners suffered significant losses.The exact cause of the fire is yet to be established, but a short circuit is being suspected.
