KHAMMAM/GUNTUR: The suspected People''s War (PW) naxalites shot dead TDP Gundala mandal convener Vagaboina Jaggaiah (45) on Sunday.
According to police, the naxalites in civil dress reached the TDP leader''s house around 11.45 pm and asked his wife to get some water for them. Later, they forcibly gained entry into the house and armed men opened 12 rounds of fire at Jaggaiah killing him on the spot.

Jaggaiah had a long association with Praja Pantha (now New Democracy) and Praja Prathighatana dalams. He disassociated with both the dalams and joined TDP three years ago and became mandal committee president in a short span of time, following which he became a target of the PW. With this, the PW had struck after a gap of six months in Khammam district.
The body of Jaggaiah was shifted to Yellendu government hospital on Monday for post-mortem. SP V V Srinivasa Rao, officer on special duty Paul Raj and in-charge DSP Ranganath rushed to Yellendu on Monday morning.
Apart from that, a PW arms dump was unearthed near Bodhanam village in Bellamkonda mandal of Guntur district on Monday.
This is for the first time the Guntur district police unearthed the PW arms dump in the district in the recent past.
According to initial information, police have unearthed gelatin sticks, tiffin boxes, fuse wires from the dump. Confirming the news, Guntur range inspector-general (IG) of police P Chandrasekhara Reddy told The Times of India that the dump was found during the routine combing operations by the special police on Monday morning.
