HYDERABAD: People''s War (PW) extremists in the guise of local villagers shot dead two guards of former Congress MLA Jupalli Krishna Rao with a burst of AK-47 gunfire on Monday but surprisingly left him unharmed.
A lecturer P Madan Kumar and another person who were among the Congress supporters gathered at a party office on the outskirts of Kollapur town in Mahbubnagar suffered injuries in the shooting.

The slain constables have been identified as Venkat Reddy and Nayak, both from the Mahbubnagar District Armed Reserve.
The naxalites took away a carbine and one pistol from the policemen. Rao had been touring the constituency since Monday morning and returned to town in the afternoon.
