Silchar: A 28-year-old youth died in an accident after slipping and falling while attempting to get down from a moving train in Assam’s Cachar district on Friday morning.The deceased has been identified as Mrigendra Sinha, a resident of Bil Barunga in Katigorah.According to reports, the incident occurred around 6am on board the Rangiya-Silchar Express near Bihara station. As the train was moving slowly, Sinha allegedly tried to alight in haste. However, he lost his footing and fell under the train. In the accident, both his hands were severed and he sustained severe head injuries, leading to his death on the spot, sources said.The incident sent shockwaves across the locality, casting a pall of gloom over the area. Police later reached the spot and initiated necessary procedures.
