GURGAON: Gurgaon police on Tuesday carried out a flag march in west zone of city to ensure peace and law and order following Monday's drama at Wazirpur village.
The caretaker of a local religious structure moved to Alok Mittal, commissioner of police, Gurgaon alleging that he was thrashed and a structure was demolished hurting the religious sentiments.
The police reached the village and got the boundary wall restored amidst high security barring media glare. The 30 villages will hold maha panchayat on Wednesday.
Various organization and political parties had called for a bazaar bandh on Monday protesting against the cattle smuggling in Gurgaon and demanded immediate arrest of the murderers of a youth, Vikrant Yadav. The traders kept their shops shut from 8:00 am to 2 pm to show solidarity.
"DCP (west) conducted a flag march in city area on Tuesday while a route march was also conducted from police lines to my office. It was a general preparation for maintaining law and order in the city," said commissioner of police.
