The gang that could not find Ramar’s son in the house began to search for him.
Later, the gang saw Vaandu riding a two-wheeler near a tank in the village. The gang members intercepted him and hacked him to death before fleeing the scene.
Trichy range deputy inspector general of police V Balakrishnan, Karur superintendent of police R Pandiarajan visited the village. The Kulithalai police began investigations.
A senior police officer said the murder could be the fallout of a row over the encroachment of several acres of a lake by a group of people in the village. The encroachers had been converting the lake into an agricultural land, the father-son duo had alleged.
However, the police were yet to reach a conclusion on the real motive of the double murder.
