CHENNAI: BJP president Nitin Nabin on Friday accepted the resignation of former party chief K Annamalai from the primary membership of the party.Annamalai is expected to outline his future course of action during a social media interaction at noon, intensifying buzz that he may launch a new political outfit.TOI was the first to report Annamalai's exit from the party after the poll debacle in Tamil Nadu.Taking to social media, Annamalai wrote, “ I eagerly look forward to interacting with you all on social media to share my thoughts and have an open, heart-to-heart conversation.”Also read: Annamalai to disclose his future course of action during a social media interactionSources said Annamalai has been camping in Delhi since Monday, where he met Union home minister Amit Shah, BJP national president Nitin Nabin and national organisational general secretary B L Santhosh to convey his decision to quit the party.He is also said to have sought a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi before returning to Chennai.Kuppusamy Annamalai, the former IPS official, who shot up to fame in politics after he joined the BJP, is referred to as "Singham" by his supporters.He joined the BJP in 2020 and was made state president the following year, succeeding L Murugan, who was elevated as a union minister.
