Amritsar: Two close associates of notorious gangster Prabh Dasuwal were arrested by the Amritsar commissionerate police in connection with a string of shooting and extortion cases, including the firing incident at a showroom. Amritsar police commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar informed on Wednesday that the arrested accused were identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Lal, and Jobanpreet Singh alias Joban, both described by investigators as active shooters of the Prabh Dasuwal gang. He said that the duo executed violent crimes on the direct instructions of Dasuwal, with the intent to create fear and extract money.During a recovery operation linked to the investigation, Gurpreet Singh alias Lal allegedly opened fire at the police party with the intention to escape. Police retaliated in self-defence, injuring the accused, Bhullar said, adding that he was immediately taken to a hospital for medical treatment. A 30 bore pistol was recovered from his possession at the spot. According to investigators, the accused confessed to their involvement in multiple firing incidents across Tarn Taran and adjoining areas. These included a firing at Zoog Studio Salon in Tarn Taran, an attack on the vehicle of a private school principal in Valtoha, a firing incident involving an individual in village Seron, and a shooting at a jeweller's shop in Tarn Taran. The Creative Wheels showroom firing in Amritsar, which caused panic among traders, was also traced back to the same gang.
