Jalandhar: Bhog and antim ardas, or the last prayers, in memory of former Jammu and Kashmir governor Satyapal Malik, were held at Gurdwara Shaheedan Sarmastpur, Jalandhar, on Thursday. Apart from the leaders and activists of the farm groups and political leaders, a few close associates of Malik also attended the event.
Prominent among those who attended the religious function were Congress MLA Pargat Singh, Rana Gurjeet Singh, Sukhwinder Singh Kotli, and Hardev Singh Ladi Sherowalia; former MP and now senior SAD leader Mohinder Singh Kaypee, and BSP senior leader Balwinder Kumar.
Farmers and Sikh groups have been admiring Malik for speaking in their support during the farm movement and strongly advising the centre govt against any repression while citing Sikh history.
