Panchkula cops launch night domination drive, fine 14 for drunken driving

The Panchkula police held a night domination drive on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, where police check posts were erected at 24 locations across the district. Under the campaign, 1,137 vehicles were checked, 14 drivers were challaned for drunk driving, and 1 missing child was reunited with his family, said deputy commissioner of police DCP Sumer Pratap Singh.

PANCHKULA: The Panchkula police held a night domination drive on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, where police check posts were erected at 24 locations across the district. Under the campaign, 1,137 vehicles were checked, 14 drivers were challaned for drunk driving, and 1 missing child was reunited with his family, said deputy commissioner of police DCP Sumer Pratap Singh.While giving information, DCP Singh said that following the orders of Haryana director general of police P K Aggarwal and under the direction of Panchkula police commissioner (CP) Sanjay Kumar, night domination campaign has been launched in the districts, under which special checking was done by putting up police check posts under all police stations and police posts.The night domination campaign was conducted by the district police from 10 pm to 4 am, he said. Under the campaign, various places of the city were blocked and hotels, dharamshalas, inns, dhabas, ATMs etc. were checked. Area wise checking was done by the gazetted officers.According to the instructions of the deputy commissioner of police, every vehicle coming and going was checked by barricading 24 different places in the city.“During night checking, a total of 1,137 vehicles were checked, out of which 391 two-wheeler, 514 four wheelers, 131 light vehicles, 101 heavy vehicles were checked. Along with this, the police registered 4 cases against the accused involved in illegal activities and arrested 5 accused. Two accused were also arrested for possessing illegal liquor, and 1 was arrested for possessing illegal arms. The police also took strict action against violators of traffic rules, and challans were issued to 61 vehicles.
