Chandigarh: Officials of the municipal corporation, Chandigarh on Wednesday ordered the repair of rear service road and strengthening of lighting infrastructure behind the Madhya Marg showroom belt in Sector 26. The order was issued after the inspection of the area by chief engineer Sanjay Arora.Accompanied by the senior engineering officers, Arora inspected the area following concerns raised by the traders and showroom owners regarding the deteriorating condition of the service road in the area. During inspection, the officials observed that several stretches of the rear service road was damaged and required urgent repair to facilitate smooth and safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians. The team also reviewed housekeeping arrangements, maintenance of berms and removal of obstructions affecting accessibility in certain locations.The chief engineer instructed the departments concerned to undertake all repair and maintenance works on priority. Necessary patchwork, strengthening of damaged road portions and improvement of civic amenities will be executed after technical assessment, while progress of the works will be monitored closely to ensure timely completion.
Officials noted that the Sector 26 showroom belt witnessed substantial commercial activity and attracted a large number of visitors daily. The proposed improvements are expected to enhance accessibility, public convenience and overall urban infrastructure standards in the area.
