Anti-immigration cell arrests agent for duping job seekers of Rs 6 lakh on Luxembourg promise
Kaithal: The anti-immigration cell of Kaithal police has arrested a travel agent for allegedly cheating two job seekers of over Rs 6 lakh on the promise of securing jobs and visas for Luxembourg.The accused, Gurvinder Singh of Shilla Khera village in Kaithal district, was arrested by a team led by PSI Shubhranshu and ASI Randhir Singh.A police spokesperson said the action was part of an ongoing drive against immigration fraud being carried out on the directions of Kaithal SP Manpreet Singh Sudan.According to the complaint, Sharandeep Singh and Nirmal Singh of Kaithal came in contact with the accused through social media in August 2025. The accused allegedly assured them that he would arrange jobs in Luxembourg and facilitate their travel abroad.Police said the complainants handed over copies of their passports and educational documents and subsequently paid Rs 6.02 lakh in instalments for visa processing, job offer letters, employment contracts, air tickets, embassy charges and other expenses.However, the accused allegedly failed to arrange the promised jobs or travel documents and kept delaying the matter. When the complainants sought the return of their money and documents, he allegedly threatened them, police said.A case had already been registered at City police station. The accused was produced before a court, which remanded him to two days of police custody for further questioning.
